Composer: | Albrici,Vincenzo,1631-1696 |
Title: | Hymnum jucunditatis |
TitleNr: | 1 |
Attr. Status: | ^ |
Attr. Information: | Both the Uu and D:Dlb sources attribute the work to Peranda, and lack the violin parts. The Bokemeyer score (D:B)includes the violin parts, and attributes the work to Albrici. In Dresden, the morning worship service held in conjunction with the 1660 „Frieden-Fest‰ included a performance of Hymnum jucunditatis, and the list of music performed in the service attributes all of the compositions to Albrici, and includes the scoring and the entire text (Sächs. HStA OHMA N IV Nr. 1, fols. 13r, 16r; the composition is listed as a „Motettino. a. 2. Soprani, 2. Violini, un fagotto con un Spinettino‰). Hymnum was performed again in Dresden at vespers on Pentecost Sunday, 1662; the court diary also attributes the work to Albrici (D:Dlb Q 240). The Weißenfels inventory also attributes the work to Albrici; the entry does not include the violin parts. Albrici seems to have borrowed portions of the text from Carissimi‚s similarly-titled motet. In addition, the use of A major in 1660 is more consistent with Albrici‚s harmonic language than with that of Peranda.
